Welcome to Art Etc
Blog & Online Shop for Indian Handicrafts
The People
Our journey began in 2011
In 2011 Film maker Maya Rao & Theatre personality Narendra Sachar put their media careers in Mumbai on hold and branched out to set up Art Etc…, a small store for exclusive Handmade products in Pune. Their dream was to reach out to the artisans in the interior of the country and discover the vast variety of art forms that exist around us. These artisans needed a market and Art Etc…was set up with the intent of providing them with precisely that. The online portal of Art Etc… is one more small step to carry this vision forward and expand the reach of Indian Handicrafts across the country and into Global markets.
Generating employment with sustainable crafts
Eco Conscious Art
Traditional handmade products are crafted using natural resources, local skills and age old environment friendly techniques with minimum carbon foot print. Handmade products are exclusive and generate local employment preventing the need to migrate to big cities. Handmade products are not dependent on technology or mass labour. They give the artisan a sense of independence and dignity as well as the pride of creation.
Fair Trade & Ethical practices
Art Etc… is a part of the Fair Trade forum of India and follows the policy of fair pricing and ethical trade practices. Our team of artisans and craftspeople spread out across the length and breadth of the country are actively involved in the designing, manufacturing, quality control and the pricing of our products.
Become a part of the family
Every time you buy an exclusive handcrafted product from Art Etc… you bring a smile to the artisan’s face and contribute to their welfare and growth. Most importantly you ensure that their craft is kept alive and is thriving.
